As we close in on our first full year I pause to reflect on our accomplishments. We opened our own facility at the end of August of 2014. In early December we doubled our space. We are still refining the logistics of equipment location. Part of that process has included the installation of our new bottling line. With the Corker not arriving until early September we were not able to bottle before the 2015 crush started. We had to scramble to get the 2013 vintage in the bottle as well as pick up and process the 2015 vintage. Fortunately our family came to the rescue. One comment that hit home to me was that they were not aware of all the work required to make the noble grape turn into such a grand libation. We crushed about 15 tons of fruit this year which is about what we have done every year since we started making wine to enjoy with everyone. This year we have added a North Coast Sparking Brut and a Port style, wine Forte. Best of all we have increased our circle of friends with our Wine Club members and new customers. We have participated in several Wine walks: Los Gatos twice, Mountain View twice, Los Altos, San Mateo, Belmont and Menlo Park. We also poured for the Mountain View Art & Wine Festival, Milpitas BBQ Festival, San Carlos Art & Wine Festival, Pinot Paradise at the Mountain Winery, and Wine with Heart at Thomas Fogarty Winery. I also poured for the San Diego County Fair and in Reno at the Pinot Shotout in the month of July.
We are sold out of our 2011 Pinot Grigio and almost sold out of the rest of our 2011 vintage.
As we edge into the new year we are excited to taste how the 2014 vintage has matured as well as the promise of the 2015 Vintage. Will it indeed turn out to be an exemplary vintage as most seem to imply? Only time will tell but we are certainly excited to see.
